Day 1 of drawing with Copic markers

I don't think I could possible love anything more than drawing in this world, so when I discovered Copic markers earlier this week, I knew I was going to have a ton of fun. Lately, my work has been a lot about layering with various mediums, specifically plastic film on paper, canvas, panel etc. I have also been using a lot of ink in my work. After producing 8 pieces back-to-back, I decided to move towards more controlled pieces and mediums, hence replacing ink with acrylics and markers. And boy do I love it! There are some super talented illustrators out there who are masters of this medium but I've enjoyed my first day exploring these markers tremendously. The Copic markers have a dual tip and the brush tip is just fantastic to use. It just glides over the surface and is such a treat to blend. 

I did decide to create a color chart so as to avoid confusion while shading my work. That was probably the most painstaking part of my day. Once the drawing is complete, I will layer over it with a sheet of plastic film on which I will use alcohol ink to create more dynamism and movement through color and gloss. The paper I'm using is Daler-Rowney marker paper 70 g/m2, which comes in a pad of 50 sheets. At first, I wasn't sure it would be able to hold the markers but I was pleasantly surprised! Going to work on the drawing a little more and shall post more images tomorrow.
